| As of 2007 I've taken over as author of the Footprint guides to India, Rajasthan and Northeast India, and with this has come the decision to cut back on the frequent flyer points and focus my energies. I came to the conclusion that most people prefer to hear about a destination from someone who knows the place inside out. I've just about got Australia under control, having lived there for seven years, but keeping tabs on India is a full-time job in itself. |
| The emphasis on Responsible Travel comes from passion - I love to see the innovative ways in which people use tourism as a tool for conservation and community survival - but it's coupled with a sense of obligation: if I'm going to rack up yet more carbon debt by getting on a plane, it had damn well better have a positive impact somewhere in the world. If I can inspire someone else to get excited about it too, all the better. |
