Impossible deadlines met daily. Miracles and websites take longer.

Welcome! I'm a travelling writer and photographer, specializing in coverage of India, Australia and the tourism trend of the future, Responsible Travel.
I've been a professional travel journalist since 1999, during which time I've worked with magazine editors from Bath to Bangkok and Melbourne to Mumbai, and authored or contributed to travel titles for the likes of Footprint, Insight Guides/Discovery Channel, Cadogan Guides and AA Publishing.
As of 2007 I've taken over as author of the Footprint guides to India, Rajasthan and Northeast India, and with this has come the decision to cut back on the frequent flyer points and focus my energies. I came to the conclusion that most people prefer to hear about a destination from someone who knows the place inside out. I've just about got Australia under control, having lived there for seven years, but keeping tabs on India is a full-time job in itself.
The emphasis on Responsible Travel comes from passion - I love to see the innovative ways in which people use tourism as a tool for conservation and community survival - but it's coupled with a sense of obligation: if I'm going to rack up yet more carbon debt by getting on a plane, it had damn well better have a positive impact somewhere in the world. If I can inspire someone else to get excited about it too, all the better.
Every so often I hack away at building this site, but some project always comes along and I end up with yet another pretty front page. Until the attractive, low maintenance, easy-access web home I've been dreaming of is complete, you can shoot me an email here.
